New York City Ballet’s The Nutcracker
George Balanchine premiered his choreography to Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet in 1954. Every season, 90 dancers, 62 musicians, 32 stagehands and 50 students from the School of American Ballet come together to make each year's performance even more magical than ever before. Watch as Clara enters a magical kingdom, complete with a Mouse King, sugar plum fairies and a handsome prince. It has become not only one of the most beloved renditions of the work, but also an American holiday tradition.
